The $1,000 Florida Law Group Scholarship

The Personal Injury Lawyers at The Florida Law Group are aware of the high costs associated education that students and their families face. To help students achieve their educational aspirations, The Florida Law Group is pleased to introduce the $1,000 Florida Law Group Scholarship.

The 2019 Essay Topic

To participate in the contest, applicants should write a 600-word essay answering the following question:

Explain why correcting the legislative drafting mistake, also known as “Scrivener’s Error” is a difficult process. How would you change Scrivener’s Error to more of a streamlined process? Would you propose statues or laws to identify the error(s) in order to reduce misinterpretation? Provide previous evidence showcasing the strict processes of correcting these so-called errors.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicants must be planning to enroll in an accredited United States college or University in the Spring 2019 semester.
  • Incoming and existing law students enrolled in the Spring 2019 semester (1L, 2L, 3L) are eligible to participate.

The scholarship award will be issued to the winner’s college / university of choice.

How to Apply

People who wish to participate should send their essay as an attachment (.doc or .docx) in an email to floridalawgroup.scholarship@gmail.com by January 31, 2019 9 AM EST. In the body of the email, applicants should include the following information:

  • Your name, address, and phone number
  • If you are under 18, contact information for your parents
  • The name of the school you are attending or planning on attending
  • Your current course of study
  • The best way to contact you

Once the application period has ended, our scholarship committee will review the essays and choose a winner by February 15, 2019. The winner will be chosen considering the following factors:

  • Originality
  • Responsiveness to the question asked
  • The quality of the writing
  • The substantive content of the response
  • Proper citations

All personal information collected from scholarship applicants will be used only for the purpose of awarding the scholarship. No personal information be distributed, sold or provided to third parties.

By submitting your essay, you are giving permission for Brauns Law, PC, to use name or essay on our website, newsletter, or other social media channels, if selected as the winner. Only one winner will be selected. In the event that the winner fails to respond to the notification within 7 business days, the winner’s prize will be forfeited and a new winner will be selected. The prize will be issued in the name of an accredited college or university of a winner’s choice and can be used towards any fees and/or expenses associated with the winner’s education.
