About

Maria Catsikopoulos brings more than a decade of legal experience to her role as Managing Prelitigation Attorney. Her career spans both the private and public sectors, giving her a deep understanding of insurance, litigation strategy, and client advocacy. Maria leads the prelitigation team with a focus on thorough case development, clear communication, and efficient resolutions for clients.

Maria began her legal career representing vulnerable children and families in Florida’s dependency courts. She served as a Program Attorney for the Guardian ad Litem Program in Fort Lauderdale and later as Assistant Regional Counsel with the Office of Criminal Conflict and Civil Regional Counsel in Bartow. In those roles, she represented parents and children in all stages of juvenile dependency proceedings, litigating termination of parental rights trials, drafting complex legal motions, and collaborating with agencies to achieve permanency for children. She continued this work as a Senior Attorney with Children’s Legal Services in Gainesville, where she represented the State of Florida in juvenile dependency and adoption cases and received the 2018 Child Welfare Excellence Award for the Northeast Region.

Maria later transitioned into civil litigation and insurance law. At Davis Law PLLC in Jacksonville, she advised on insurance coverage matters and represented carriers in construction defect and business litigation. She then joined GEICO as in-house counsel, where she gained valuable insight into insurance defense strategy from the carrier perspective, managing a high-volume litigation caseload and negotiating settlements on behalf of the company.

Most recently, Maria worked at Dan Newlin Injury Attorneys, handling pre-suit personal injury claims. There, she focused on evaluating liability, negotiating settlements, coordinating with medical providers, and achieving favorable outcomes for clients prior to litigation. Her combined experience on both the defense and plaintiff sides gives her a balanced, strategic approach to resolving cases efficiently and effectively.

Maria is based in the Tampa Bay Area and is committed to providing clear guidance and strong advocacy for clients during the prelitigation process. Her leadership blends legal expertise with practical problem-solving to build strong cases early and drive fair, timely resolutions.
