Trial Group Team Leader

About

Craig Whisenhunt is a Trial Group Team Leader at The Florida Law Group, where he focuses his practice on complex personal injury litigation. With more than 16 years of courtroom experience, Craig has handled over 200 jury trials and complex evidentiary hearings in cases ranging from minor misdemeanors to death penalty litigation and multimillion-dollar defamation suits. Known for his calm demeanor under pressure and commanding courtroom presence, Craig has built a reputation as a fearless advocate who genuinely loves trying cases and fighting for what justice requires.

Before joining The Florida Law Group, Craig served as the managing partner of Ripley Whisenhunt, PLLC, one of Florida’s premier complex criminal defense firms, where he represented clients in some of the state’s most serious and high-profile matters. Throughout his career, he has fought to overturn wrongful convictions, death sentences, and life sentences on behalf of wrongly accused men and women. His ongoing work with the Innocence Project reflects his enduring commitment to justice and constitutional advocacy. Craig has also successfully litigated cases and matters  featured by CNN, Rolling Stone, and Associated Press publications nationwide.

In addition to his litigation practice, Craig has dedicated much of his career to teaching and mentoring future legal professionals. He previously served as Chief Information Officer for one of the largest Public Defender offices in Florida and has trained generations of attorneys, law students, and paralegals as both a professor and litigation technology consultant. His unique combination of trial advocacy and technological expertise allows him to approach complex cases with both precision and innovation.

Craig earned his Juris Doctor from Stetson University College of Law before continuing his legal education with two advanced law degrees. He received a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from Stetson University College of Law, with honors, and a second LL.M., also with honors, from Temple University Beasley School of Law. While at Stetson, Craig was a member of the nationally ranked Advocacy Board and served as President of the school’s chapter of the American Association for Justice.

Raised in a military family, Craig lived throughout the United States and abroad before ultimately settling in Florida after meeting his wife in law school. Today, he lives in the Tampa Bay area with his wife, a respected attorney and incredible mother, their two sons, and two dogs. Outside the courtroom, Craig enjoys teaching, triathlon training, travel, woodworking, cooking, technology consulting, and pursuing new adventures with his family.
